Coming to the Pink Flamingo Theater in Monterey: the New York production of JANKA

This eyewitness account of the Holocaust journey of Janka Festinger will put you into the middle of Hitler’s Final Solution. This powerful theatre performance will be a night you won’t soon forget. It will tear your heart out and fill it with compassion at the same time.

Janice Noga stars as Janka. New York critic Adam Rosenberg said, “Janice’s performance was mesmerizing.” The Fresno Bee’s Donald Munro’s New York review said, “To see this remarkable woman brought to life with such grace and style was to make you want to grip the hand of the actor and say simply, ‘thank you.’”

Janka’s courageous journey of survival and hope, through two of history’s most notorious death camps – AUSCHWITZ and DACHAU, to the shores of the United States and the embrace of the American Dream, is adapted from a sixty page hand-written letter describing the events following the Nazis’ interment of Romanian Jews in 1944.

Janka’s deeply personal, moving, and sometimes humorous account is a “grueling odyssey of self-realization that is testimony to her love of life and her will to “survive,” and poses the ultimate dilemma of whether or not to share painful personal information to illuminate an incomprehensible and unbearable truth.

JANKA has been produced Off-Broadway and around the world. Janka stars Janice Noga as Janka, and is written by Oscar Speace, Janka’s son.

The Janka Project and the Fresno Arts Council in conjunction with the Pink Flamingo Theatre are producing JANKA. Performances are Friday and Saturday, February 17, 18, 24, 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, February 19 & 26 at 2:30pm.  The Pink Flamingo Theater is located at 2115 North Fremont Ave, Monterey, CA.

Tickets to Janka at the Pink Flamingo Theater are on sale now at Brown Paper Tickets. For more information about JANKA go to JankaProject.com.
